weekly post

finished off the shelving in the lounge now, though there appears to be some water coming from the windows on that side, i think its from the windows anyway it just appears. need to look into that. hoping to stay over tonight and get some more work done.
also looking for furniture that will fit in our study bit though they dont build stuff that fits perfectly for narrowboats grrrr. hopefully seen something in tesco direct that meets our needs of stourage and seating at the sametime.

Long weekend

Just got back from a long weekend on the boat, its been really good, sharons had her birthday on there, i cooked her brekfast of eggs benadict which she wanted was a bit hard seeing as we only have one pan. anyway we have had a good weekend sharons been reading her books (twilight) and i have been making a set of shelves and finishing off the floor, we have now decided to get a freestanding sofabed which we have found that is flat pack and very comfertable the built in sofa we were going to make was not as comfy as that one. anyway the selves look great though i have been making it up as i have gone along. Also seem to have hopefully fixed the leak in the window that as coursed a stain in one of the panels.

First Blog

Thought we had better start a blog seeing as we have bought a narrowboat and its the thing to do when you have one so here is ours. im sure it will be like many other boat blogs and mostly talk about things braking down and what to do with the toilet. though so far we have had none of these problems on our boat. We bought her in september and intend on moving on board when we can sell our house so not any time soon then. we have been using this time to do her up abit ready to move on when and if the housing market picks up, we started just as the market went down dooh, anyway one good thing is the cost of our margage as gone down so we can afford to pay for the boat yay though the marina costs do not help boo, though the boat sould be finished by the time we actually want to move on board.

(this is what she was like when we got her.) still not took pics of me doing her out, but its going well we have managed to strip most of the stuff back and replace the carpet with wood floor we have sold the sofa on ebay to a guy in the same marina which was strange and we are currently awaiting a new sofa to arrive. really do need to take pics of the boat as i do it.

We have had our first trip out to doncaster and back which was very very cold, and sharons friend vicky came along for moral support and to help out though with no boating experiance between us we set off out of the marina which we managed without hitting to many things and was videoed by julia next door on poppy and looks a lot more professional than it felt :0)

(it was all going so well then)

we got stuck in long sandel lock, not our fault honest it just broke and we were there for over an hour, this ment that we arrived in doncaster in the dark which was cool though a little scary when you can not see where your going.

Anyway also got stuck in the lock on the way back though this time for not as long. had a cold for about 2 months after this trip and we are now waiting until the weather is a lot better before repeating it again. was very exciting though.
